A post medieval extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery to the south of Swanage Road, Ballard Down. The pit is situated on chalk and measures approximately 29 m by 25 m. (1) This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
