A possible mine shaft which may be of post medieval date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1945 and 1951 on Black Down, Studland. The shaft is sub-square and measures approximately 4 m by 4 m. (1-2) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
