A group of three post medieval extractive pits and extraction spoil are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1944 to the south east of Sitterton Wood, Affpuddle. The pits and spoil are located on Portsdown Chalk Formation. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 330 m by 40 m and the pits measure between 58 m by 15 m and 8 m by 6 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
