Full Description
An area of post medieval sand and gravel extraction is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery between Black Hill and Blackhill Clump, Affpuddle. The pits are located on sand and gravel River Terrace Deposits. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 600 m by 210 m and measure between 50 m by 30 m and 245 m by 130 m. The features are associated with Blackhill Brick Works which is marked on the OS 1st edition map (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
