Monument record MDO31300 - Eighteenth-century building at Simsay, Cerne Abbas

Summary

The remains of a building of probable eighteenth-century date were excavated by AC archaeology during the archaeological evaluation of a proposed development site in 2004. The walls of the building were of flint, greensand and chalk, and the remains of a limestone slab floor and brick fireplace were recorded. A building is shown in this position on early maps dating from 1768 but not on 1884 maps.
