Summary
A dug out hollow surrounded by an outer bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of New Mills Heath, Corfe Castle. It is considered likely to be the remains of a Second World War military fox hole. These small, two or three man trenches, are usually dug as isolated fieldworks rather than as part of a defensive system.

Full Description
A dug out hollow surrounded by an outer bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of New Mills Heath, Corfe Castle (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a Second World War military fox hole. These small, two or three man trenches, are usually dug as isolated fieldworks rather than as part of a defensive system. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
