Full Description

Five round barrows on Ridge Hill: 'C'. Bowl (63958680) 120 yds. east south east of 'B'. Diam 90 ft, ht 8 ft. North-south excavation trench across centre. Half mace-head of palaeozioc quartizite found on mound. <1> <3> <4> 'C' SY 63948681. Bowl barrow, diameter 28.0m. height 4.0m., with flat top 10.0m. diameter. No visible ditch. All the barrows are in an arable field but only 'D' has been ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5> All the barrows are in an arable field. Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <9-11>, measuring approximately 23 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
