Full Description
Five round barrows on Ridge Hill: 'E'. Bowl (64068676) 60 yds. east south east of 'D'. Diam 30 ft, ht 3 ft. Damaged. <1> <3>
'E' SY 64058676. Bowl barrow which measures 14.0m., east-west by 8.0m. north-south, height 0.9m., truncated by trackway. No visible ditch. All the barrows are in an arable field but only 'D' has been ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>
Site of a Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of five barrows (MDO3152-56) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway. All the barrows are in an arable field.
Also visible as disturbed earthwork mound on aerial photographs <7>, measuring approximately 9 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
