Summary
A school opened on 2 September 1872. Thought to have been designed by (or by the office of) Captain Edmund du Cane, Royal Engineers, who designed St Peter’s church. The building has walls of Portland stone and a slate roof; it is on a cross-shaped plan in Romanesque Revival style. The building was extended in 1898 and partly rebuilt in the late twentieth century.
