A small rounded hollow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1970 to the south west of the Coombe Beacon barrow group (1). It is considered likely to be a post medieval extractive pit. The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project, it is still visible as a low earthwork on recent Google Earth vertical photographs (2).
