A dispersed group of post Medieval or early 20th century pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on West Holme Heath. They are likely to be extractive pits although a military origin is also possible.

A dispersed group of post Medieval or early 20th century pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on West Holme Heath. They are likely to be extractive pits although a military origin is also possible (1-2). The features are partially still visible under modern scrub on recent Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
