Full Description

Two large extractive pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the west of Great Wood, West Creech Hill. They are marked as 'Old Quarry' on the OS 1st edition map and are considered to be of post medieval date (1). The underlying geology is Chalk. The site is obscured by trees on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
