A small extractive pit of quarry is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on the south side of Povington Hill to the north-west of Maiden's Grave Gate (1). It is considered likely to be a post medieval chalk pit. The site is still visible on recent Google Earth imagery and was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
