Two small extractive pits or quarries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on Whiteway Hill. The underlying geology is Chalk and they are therefore considered likely to be post medieval chalk pits (1). The site is still visible as an extant earthwork on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
