An 'Old Clay Pit' is marked at this location on the OS 1st edition map, it is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945-6 (1-2). The site is no longer visible being obscured by trees on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
