A series of bare earth features are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 at regular intervals along the line of the road west and north out of Monastry Farm. They are considered likely to be spoil heaps of uncertain military function dating to the Second World War (1). The features are not visible on recent Google Earth imagery; they were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
