A series of bare earth features and structures are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945 in the vicinity of Five Barrow Hill (1). They are considered likely to be craters and structures of uncertain military function dating to the Second World War. Some of the potential craters are visible on Aps taken in 1982 (2) and are still extant on recent Google Earth imagery; they were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
