The sites of three possible post medieval chalk pits are visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs in the field to the north-east of Newlands Cottages (1-2). One is marked as 'Old Quarry' on the OS 1st Edition Map. The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
