A post medieval to modern sand and gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of Outer Heath, Crossways. The pit has been digitally plotted to its extent in the 1940s, but now forms part of Warmwell Quarry.

A post medieval to modern sand and gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of Outer Heath, Crossways. The pit has been digitally plotted to its extent in the 1940s, but now forms part of Warmwell Quarry. The pit measured approximately 190 m by 100 m. ( 1-3) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
