A post medieval to modern sand and gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s in the north western corner of RAF Warmwell, Crossways. The pit has been digitally plotted to its extent in the 1940s, but now forms part of Warmwell Quarry.

A post medieval to modern sand and gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s in the north western corner of RAF Warmwell, Crossways. The pit has been digitally plotted to its extent in the 1940s, but now forms part of Warmwell Quarry. The pit measured approximately 370 m by 175 m. (1) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
