Full Description
TA disused pit is marked at this location on the OS 1:10,000 scale map. It is one of a number of hollows visible earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1970 which are considered to be the result of post medieval chalk quarrying. (1). The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The features are still visible as an extant earthworks on the most recent Google Earth imagery.
