A post medieval or modern extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1948 to the north of Higher Woodsford. The pit area is formed of four small pits, visible over an area measuring approximately 85 m by 20 m. (1) The pit is still visible as an earthwork, although disused, on recent aerial photography. (2) This site was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
