Three post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Chaldon Down, Chaldon Herring. The pits measure 52 m by 29 m and 23 m by 18 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
