Full Description

Two post medieval chalk pits and two areas of spoil are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s on the eastern end of Moigns Down. The quarry pits and banks of spoil are visible over an area measuring approximately 340 m by 160 m. (1) The quarry pits are still visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 2002. (2) The chalk pits are marked on the 1st ed OS map. (3) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
