The Langton Herring tithe map (1) shows a field NW of what is now Under Cross Plantation sub-divided into regular plots and labelled FIELD GARDEN ALLOTMENTS. The area is again shown as Allotment Gardens on the 2nd edn OS 25in map (1902) (2).
