Summary
Remains of a preaching cross in the churchyard of the Church of the Holy Rood, Shillingstone. Consists of two steps, the lower being 7 feet square and 18 inches deep and the upper 4 feet 10 inches square and 11 inches deep. Probably 15th century.

The remains of what was probably a preaching cross consists of two steps, the lower being 7 feet square and 18 inches deep and the upper 4 feet 10 inches square and 11 inches deep. Probably 15th century. <1, 3>
ST 82481145. The two steps are set on a stone base, 2.40m square and 0.15m high. The lower step measures 2.20m square and 0.50m high, and has a plain fascia recessed between a hollow chamfered plinth and a hollow chamfered nosing. The upper step, 1.45m square and 0.30m high, is plain.
