The OS 1st and 2nd edn 25in maps (1889, 1902) (1, 2) show an earthwork platform with banks on two sides located above the beach at Arish Mell. Its function is uncertain but it may be associated with a mill formerly somewhere in the vicinity (MDO32431) or conceivably with use by visitors from Lulworth Castle, to which it is linked by a track.
