Full Description

Buildings were constructed by Thomas Weld in 1795 as a refuge for emigre Trappist monks from France. In 1817 the monks left and the complex became a farm (1). It was shown on the tithe map (2). A disused burial ground was shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) (3). The farm complex was shown extended on the OS 2nd edn 25in map (1902) (4) and is still occupied (5).
