Full Description

The OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) (1) shows an earthwork embankment approx 30m long across the mouth of a small creek south of Fitzworth Point. A pond was shown on the landward side of the feature but it is unclear whether the barrier was intended as a sea defence, with the aim of reclaiming land behind it, or as a dam to create a body of water. The embankment is not shown on the tithe map (2).
