Full Description
Originally the Victoria Brickworks, founded before 1856. It produced china pottery later, but from 1886 started to manufacture salt-crazed pipes and fittings. It closed in 1966, the buildings have been demolished, and the site is now residential. Recorded by AJA Cooksey, 09-Aug-1968. <1>
Sandford Works (Pottery) is shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) <2> and subsequent mapping at least until the 1960s. The complex included an adjacent brickyard, kilns, gravel pits and a tramway link to the LSWR line to the S. The site has been redeveloped and the complex is no longer extant.
