Full Description

An embankment extending approximately 120m from the shore carrying a tramway linked to the Holton Heath cordite factory system is shown on the OS 3rd edn 1:2500 map (1925) (1). This was presumably part of an effort to reclaim an area of foreshore. Post-WW2 mapping (2) shows an area of spoil tipping W of the former embankment and an area of approximately 1.8 ha of reclaimed land not present on earlier maps.
