Full Description

The South Western Pottery complex, including clay pits, a gasometer and tramway system is shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1892) <1>. The OS 3rd and 4th edn 1:2500 maps of 1925 <2> and 1933 <3> and the post World War II 5th edn <4> show substantial expansion of the works, with a number of kilns, chimneys and engine house marked. The site has subsequently been redeveloped for housing. Recorded by NRIM. Photographed. <5>
