Full Description

Argyle Gardens, covering an area of about 0.7 ha, is shown on the OS 3rd edn 1:2500 map (1909) (1) sited in a loop in the recently-constructed West Overcliff Drive. The 4th edn map (1933) (2) shows it with a Tennis Ground and Bowling Green, Urinals and Shelter. The Gardens formed part of the expansion of leisure facilities in this part of Bournemouth in the later 19th and earlier 20th century.
