The OS 3rd edn 25in / 1:2500 map (1925) (1) shows a boathouse on the shore of Poole Harbour in an area of woodland named as Boat House Clump. Earlier maps (2) showed a rectangular structure on the site which may have been a quay. The site was possibly associated with Upton House, which lies approximately 370m to the N.
