A series of e-w and n-s running medieval strip lynchets recorded by the RCHM as extant earthworks and also visible as earthworks on aerial photographs.

Full Description

SY 633895. Strong, parallel Medieval strip lynchets under pasture and wood. (1) SY 631895. Remians of at least four strip lynchets lie on a north slope immediately south-east of some of the village remains (SY 68 NW 77).(2, 6) Four strip lynchets are visible three very marked (up to 3.5m high and 8.0m. wide), and one rather faint lower down the slope. None of the lynchets appears to run into Kit Hill Coppice on the east. (3) A series of east-west and north-south parallel running medieval strip lynchet recorded by the RCHM (2) as extant earthworks under pasture and wood to the south-east of Winterborne Steepleton village. These features are also visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (4-6} and were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
