Summary
Antiquarian reports of Roman pottery and other finds such as shale armlets and brooches, as well as reports of frequent finds of coins from allotments, have led to the suggestion that there may be a Roman building, possibly a villa, somwhere in the vicinity of Charlton Barrow. The site of the building has not been identified.

Full Description
(ST 904033) Foundations of a 'Roman Villa' are reported within a quarter of a mile of Charlton Barrow. Finds from the site include Samian and coarse ware, two Kimmeridge shale 'amulets' and bronze brooches. <1-2>
