Full Description
Two parallel ditches were identified in the northern part of evaluation trench 75 of the archaeological evaluation of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme route. These ditches were oriented roughly WNW-ESE and lay close together. They were not excavated as they were interpreted as a pre-existing hedge boundary, the alignments of which were clearly visible as a positive cropmark running across the existing field. [1]
The line of the postulated hedge boundary has not been identified on historic map. [P Bellamy 4/1/2015]
