Remains of an old limekiln of probable nineteenth century date, which was disused by the 1880s. It lay adjacent to an old quarry.

Full Description

Limekiln east of Gourd's Farm, East Compton, of Stanier's Type B. In 1992-3, it was in an almost complete, good condition. (1) It is shown on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map epoch 1 (1885-8) adjacent to an 'old quarry'. (2) It is shown on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch maps epoch 2 (19-00-1) and epoch 3 (1928) as an 'old limekiln'
