Full Description
A square enclosure 48m by 56m is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (1-4), situated in the centre of Pilsdon Pen hillfort. Originally interpreted as an Iron Age or Roman religious site (NMR UID 193083), this was later revised as being a post medieval warren (Scheduled Monument List Entry 1019394). The south west side has been partially replaced by a pillow mound which post dates the enclosure, and which was partially reconstructed following the excavation (NMR UID 193083).
The site was plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
