Summary

A linear banked feature is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery on Eype Down. It runs roughly east-west for 62m across the ridge of the Down. It is of uncertain date and may be of prehistoric or historic origin. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

SY 438 925. A cross-ridge bank cuts across the Northern spur of Eype Down. It is 80 yards long, 45 feet wide and 3 feet high terminated in the West by a deep hollow way and in the East by a later gravel bank. <1> A linear banked feature is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery on Eype Down <2-3>. It runs roughly east-west for 62m across the ridge of the Down. It is of uncertain date and may be of prehistoric cross dyke or of historic origin. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
