Full Description
Two linear field boundary to the east of Bettiscombe Manor House are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1). Their morphology suggests a probable post medieval date although they appear to sub divide fields of probable early medieval or medieval origin (see MDO38519) and may be of similar date to these. These boundaries were removed prior to the date of the OS First Edition historic mapping but remain visible as earthworks on the latest vertical aerial photographs (2) and Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
