Summary

Two parallel historic ditched field boundaries to the northeast of Newnham Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s. Their regular linear form within a wider enclosure of probable medieval origin may suggest medieval strip field boundaries. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Two parallel ditched field boundaries to the northeast of Newnham Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). Their regular linear form and parallel arrangement within a wider enclosure of probable medieval origin may suggest medieval strip field boundaries. The site is still faintly visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
