Summary
An historic ditched field boundary to the north of Hurst Farm is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and on a Lidar survey of 2010. Full Description
An historic ditched field boundary to the north of Hurst Farm is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1) and on a Lidar survey of 2010 (2). Its slightly curvilinear form suggests a possible medieval origin, although a later date is also possible. The broader field pattern at Hurst Farm appears to be broadly medieval in origin but with substantial reorganisation during the post medieval period. The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
