Monument record MDO38639 - Historic field boundaries or pillow mounds, Lower Pound Farm, Northwood, Wootton Fitzpaine
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Two short sections of wide bank, each 30-32m long with flanking ditches, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south of Lower Pound Farm . They are on the same alignment as an adjacent system of small fields marked on the OS 1st edition map which have since been removed. The features are considered to be field boundaries of historic origin although they are very wide and an alternative interpretation (such as pillow mounds) is possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
