Summary

Historic field boundaries to the south of Whetham Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s. Their regular rectilinear form suggests a probable post medieval origin but as they are located within a wider field pattern of broadly medieval origin an earlier date is possible. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Historic field boundaries to the south of Whetham Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). Their regular rectilinear form suggests a probable post medieval origin but as they are located within a wider field pattern of broadly medieval origin an earlier date is possible. The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
