A small hollow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the north east of Higher Sminhay Farm. It is 46m across and marked partially marked as a short scarp on the OS 1:10,000 scale map. The feature is considered likely to be an extractve pit of post medieval origin, it was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
