Summary
A series of ditched and banked field boundaris and trackways to the northeast of Burstock are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s. Full Description
A series of ditched and banked field boundaris and trackways to the northeast of Burstock are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). The rectilinear form of the boundaries suggest a probable post medieval origin, although an earlier date is possible. A curvilinear ditch to the west of the group is probably a trackway, not shown on the OS 1st Edition map (2) but in use in 1947 (1). Some of the ditched linears are still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
