Full Description

A series of historic banked and ditched field boundaries and possible trackways to the west of Hurshay Farm, Burstock, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1), 1970s (2) and on the latest Lidar imagery (3). The boundaries and possible trackways are located within enclosures that potentially sub-divide a former medieval open field and they broadly align with these, suggesting a possible post medieval origin, although boundaries of earlier date may also be present. The site is still largely visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (4), although there has been some redevelopment along its eastern side. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
