Summary
Two post medieval extractive pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the north west of Northay Farm. The features are between 35m and 50 across. The southern of the pair appears to have been ploughl-levelled and is no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery; the northern pit is still extant and visible as a hollow under trees. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
