Summary

Two post medieval extractive pits and a possible track or hollow way are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south of Summershay Farm. The pits are between 30 and 38m across. The southern of the pair is approach from the east by a long linear hollow which may be an associated trackway. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Two post medieval extractive pits and a possible track or hollow way are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south of Summershay Farm (1). The pits are between 30 and 38m across. The southern of the pair is approach from the east by a long linear hollow which may be an associated trackway. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. The features are still partially visible as low earthworks on recent Google Earth imagery (2).
